Working for Stance gave me an abundance of opportunities working on licensed properties. To stand out, we would always try to provide custom artwork. I was a huge fan of Quentin Tarantino to begin with, so I was elated when Albert gave us the news that he had lined up a career spanning collaboration! Once we received confirmation from Quentin’s team on our proposed concept and illustrator, I reached out to Gary Musgrave (an artist I’ve happily worked with multiple times prior) and briefed him on the collection. I wanted Gary to draw iconic scenes from Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, with the intention that we would knit the design (rather than screen print or sublimate). A knitted pattern requires less detail and thicker lines. Gary did a beautiful job, and had no trouble adapting. The remaining collection was designed in-house.
“To nearly everyone in the world (over the age of 18), the name Quentin Tarantino will automatically conjure up certain scenes. Responsible for some of the greatest dialogue and most interesting plot lines in recent film history, the director’s ability to craft gritty stories with engaging characters is practically unparalleled. And now Stance has connected with the him to release a range of socks that will have you looking like one smart motherfucker. The new collection celebrates the filmmaker’s most iconic movies.”
